Housing and Homelessness
How we help
Homelessness is never planned. YES helps young people age 16 – 25 in Colchester and Tendring that are homeless and at risk of becoming homeless. This can include those that are sofa surfing, young people living in a dangerous or abusive environment and those staying in temporary accommodation such as a hostel or night-shelter. We are the only charity in the region that specifically helps young people under 18 years at risk of becoming homeless.
YES seek to break the cycle of homelessness by supporting young people to maintain their tenancies. We provide crucial advice and housing support to help young people make positive choices that will affect them now and in years to come.
We regularly receive referrals from YMCA, Colchester Borough Homes , the Corbyn Project and other regional Housing Association providers to help young people. We do not have accommodation of our own but do everything we can to help young people access safe, appropriate accommodation and support.
If you know someone age 16 – 25 struggling with housing difficulties, please get in touch.
